True Detective Season 2 Gets Gritty Teaser
Whether you loved or hated True Detective, it’s back for a second dose of morally ambiguous protagonists and shady underworld crime. Make sure to check out the first teaser for Season 2 and let us know what you think of what little we get to see of leads Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell.
Witcher 3 Announces Expansion Pack; People Start Arguing Over Getting More Content
Once upon a time, a developer called CD Projekt Red promised that they disliked small, pricey DLC as much as any consumer, making sure all 16 upcoming pieces of downloadable content for The Witcher 3 were free for anyone who purchases the game. However, the addendum to that statement was that if they created a larger add-on experience, say, something like the expansion packs of yore, they would charge for the content.
And that’s just what they did.
The Witcher 3 will be getting 2 expansion packs for the base game, for a total of 30+ hours of gameplay and an entirely new region to explore for the very reasonable price of $25. For some reason, people are upset by this. In my experience, I’ve played base games with way less content for way more money.
In related news, a new gameplay trailer in the vain of the GTAV features video was dropped and has us foaming at the mouth:
“Deus Ex: Mankind Divided” Revealed by Square Enix
The original Deus Ex is still one of the most influential and celebrated games in its genre. Mashing a first person camera with RPG elements and unbridled freedom to complete objectives how you wish, the game paved the way for many titles to come. The next installment in the series, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, will hopefully be a continuation of the varied gameplay and zany conspiracy stories we’ve come to expect from the series.
Dark Tower Movie Series Picked up by Sony
Those of you still following the beam in hopes of a film adaptation of Stephen King’s sprawling Dark Tower series will be happy to note that the project seems alive and well after changing hands to Sony and MRC. Ron Howard is still set to helm the series, which looks pretty set on following a pattern that flips between movies bridged with TV shows. The Dark Tower isn’t the first fantasy series to be dubbed “unfilmable”, so hopefully with the rising popularity of narrative television coupled with proof that an ambitious project can be successful, the project may actually see the light of day.
Disney Films will Continue to be Shown in IMAX
A new multi-picture agreement that lasts through to 2017 was signed by Disney and IMAX this week. This means that “Star Wars: Episode VII,” “Guardians of the Galaxy 2,” “Captain America: Civil War,” “Toy Story 4,” and a host of other Disney films will be shown on massive screens across the country.
This is great news, considering the ambitious slate of films that Disney has announced for the coming years. If all goes well, this deal could continue on year after year, allowing for more tentpole franchises to be debut on screens that are roughly the size of a small zeppelin.
“I Am Bread” gets Full Release and that’s Actually Relevant to Nerdy, Inc.!
You may not have know this, given the wide publicity the game has gotten, but the indie game “I Am Bread” was still in early access until this week, when it got its official release.
The game, a unique experience where you play as a slice of bread, has been a popular game for YouTubers to play, due to its offbeat concept and humorous gameplay.
It has been a topic of discussion, mainly by us, about how games like this affect the industry.
Yes, we have some updates for you as well.
On YouTube this week, we went through (part) of Ravenholm with only a gravity gun, continued our playthrough of Metroid Prime, gave you some background on Daredevil in preparation for the Netflix release, and spoke with Chilled Chaos about some of the annoying trends in the video game industry.
