Definitely not shaped like Vader’s helmet
Playstation has announced they will be releasing a standalone “Darth Vader” Edition Dualshock 4 controller because he’s a famous character that will be featured in an upcoming game. Realistically, this is to give people who don’t feel like buying a whole new Darth Vader themed Playstation 4 a chance to get in on the action. Check out the pictures here.
Let’s break this down. The DS4 is already black, so that didn’t have to change. Darth Vader has a red lightsaber so that explains the red highlights…but why is the “O” red? The d-pad I kind of get but what does “O” do? Does it draw your lightsaber in game? That would make sense. Also I don’t understand the blue right bumper. Is there anything blue about Darth Vader? One of the LED’s on his chest breather maybe? To cap it all off the touch pad is covered in Star Wars logo watermarks. Hey, when your controller is already the color of the character you’re emulating, you gotta brand somewhere, right?
Anyway, check it out and let us know what you think. You can preorder the controller “soon” but Star Wars: Battlefront releases on November 17th.
Steve is wondering why the controller isn’t in the shape of Darth Vader’s helmet. He’s on Twitter.
